***Buyer must pick up*** I will assist all I can with loading the lathe onto whatever vehicle you bring but the buyer is responsible.

This is a 1952 Southbend Model 9A with a 36" bed. It is in excellent condition. It was restored to better than new condition a year ago. I will include Sherwin Williams touch up enamel that perfectly matches the lathe paint. Here is a list of what was done to the lathe to restore it:

1. Complete tear down and replaced all felt wipers and oilers. 2. Stripped and repainted all parts with Sherwin Williams metal enamel that was matched to original color. 3. Replaced the spindle thrust bearing and installed a needle bearing under the take up nut for smoother spindle operation. 4. Replaced the single phase motor with a 3 phase 220V motor powered by a fully programmable VFD. The VFD and lathe is powered by 120V single phase from any outlet. All wiring in the lathe was redone and is very nice. 5. Replaced drive V-belt and leather flat belt with new rubber belts.

All functions of the lathe work perfectly. The Varriable Speed from the VFD is amazingly convenient and pretty much eliminates any belt position changes being need. The spindle runout is less than 0.0005. The 3 jaw chuck runout is about .001". Very quiet and smooth operation. Cuts amazingly well. The only defect I am aware of is about 2/3 of one gear teeth missing from the large idler gear in the gear train. I have used the gear train every way possible and the chipped tooth has never caused a problem.
