Description

Are you looking for a Mangalitsa pig to feed out? The Mangalitsa is referred to as the Kobe Beef of the pork world, others use it in reference to Berkshires and other breeds, but it is just NOT true!
Google it!
The Mangalitsa is marbled quite well and the meat is excellent!
BEWARE of what is being sold out there as pure Mangalitsa!
If you are looking for PURE Mangalitsa look for these tell tail Signs.
1) all body openings are black in color.
2) nipples are black, 5 pairs usually, 6 sometimes but any more than 6 pairs and it is a cross!
3) The Wellman fleck. A light colored spot at the bottom of the ears 1 1/2 to 2 inches
4) eye lashes, eye brows, toenails and tip of the tail are all black in color.
5) fur is dense, long and curly in the winter and softer, shorter and more straight in the summer.
The piglets have stripes for the first 4-6 weeks, then they go away to the solid color.
NEVER DO MANGALITSA PIGS SHOW SPOTS!

. These pigs are being raised on pasture and grain. So they are just about 6 weeks old now! They will be of proper butchering age in about another 12-14 months. Buy now to be ready to butcher next fall! It is recommended to not butcher them until 14-16 months old as that is when the best flavor and intermuscular fat (marbling) develops. These are a heritage lard hog and are highly desired by today's chefs especially for charcuterie, sausages, prosciutto, lomo, coppa and other such cured meats. The lard is highly desired for Lardo and baking! Steaks and chops are of the best quality also! This is the breed that all the talk is about as having healthy fat! When finished properly (pasture and cereal grains, no corn or soy), the quality of the fat is equivalent to Olive Oil as far as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats! This is the only pig in the world able to make that claim!
Asking $250.
