Crop Consultant/Spray Rig Operator

Valley Coop, Inc. is accepting applications for a motivated Crop Consultant/Spray Rig Operator for our Winfield location.  This position has agronomic consulting and sales responsibilities in addition to pesticide and fertilizer application duties with spray rigs and dry floaters as needed. This position will also be responsible for applying chemical and fertilizer with the spray rigs and floaters at our Hackney location as needed. Most equipment being used includes newer Case IH Patriots and Titans.  A successful applicant will exhibit superior customer service and successful operations in our agronomy department. The applicant will be expected to mix pesticides and fertilizers as recommended, maintain and service applicator equipment, deal with customers professionally, Possesses knowledge and understanding of soil fertility, fertilizer recommendations, seed traits and agricultural chemistry, and be willing to assist with other operations at the Coop. The employee must be able to work well on a team and take direction from management.

Additional responsibilities include working with Valley Coop’s management team to ensure efficiency, teamwork, and safety.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have excellent customer service and leadership skills, initiative, and good working knowledge of agronomy.  In addition, the candidate will possess ambition in learning how to be an effective Crop Consultant.  Applicants with a Certified Crop Advisor certificate and/or 1A Applicator’s license is preferred, but the Cooperative would be willing to work with the candidate to attain them.

Requirements

Preference is for a self-driven individual with an agriculture background, aptitude in ag technologies, and a mechanical aptitude.  A high school diploma or GED is required.  Applicant must be willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.

Driving requirements include a valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record is required.  A commercial Driver’s License (with Hazmat endorsement) is preferred.

This position requires excellent computer operation skills.  The applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  Experience with precision agriculture software is preferred.

Additional requirements include frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving over 100 pounds; and frequently climbing ladders (may range from 20’ to 180’) and stairs.  This may include structural ladders as well as climbing into applicator rig, large vehicles, and/or tractors.  The employee may be exposed to long seasonal work hours due to the fluctuation in agronomic service demand throughout the season.

Spray Rig Operator

Valley Coop, Inc. is accepting applications for a mechanically-inclined Spray Rig Operator for our Atlanta location.   This job will entail ag chemical and fertilizer application with our Case IH Patriots and Titans spray rigs and floaters.  The successful applicant is expected to be able to mix chemicals and fertilizers as recommended, maintain and service applicator equipment, deal with customers professionally, have some agronomic background and knowledge and be willing to assist other departments and operations at the Coop. The employee must be able to work well on a team and take direction from management.

Additional responsibilities include working with Valley Coop’s management team to ensure efficiency, teamwork, and safety.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have a basic understanding of fertilizers and chemicals and experience with heavy machine operating.

Requirements

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by management; basic computer operation skills; and education and/or experience in agronomic practices and computer technologies. 

Driving requirements include a valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.  A Commercial Driver’s License (with Hazmat endorsement) is preferred.  It will be expected that the employee will acquire a CDL license within 90 days if they do not currently have it.

Additional requirements include frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving over 100 pounds; and frequently climbing ladders (may range from 20’ to 180’) and stairs.  The candidate must be willing to work long hours and on weekends as necessary.
