I have a handful of pastured hogs ready to go. They are a Landrace/Duroc/Hamp/Hereford mix who have been raised on pasture as much as is possible. They've never had antibiotics or other medications in their feed. I do not dock tails or notch ears . . . I try my best to minimize their stress and let them be hogs.
Their meat will be top quality because of their natural diet, exercise, and lack of stress. The large-scale operations do not put out pork of this quality.
I will be taking some to Willow Creek Meats in McCook, NE the end of May. I can also deliver to Ben-Lee in Atwood, KS, or other local butchers.
The price is $1.00/lb live weight, which, when added to the butcher fee gives you a finished product costing roughly $3-3.50 a pound.
