The City of Hays’ Parks Department is accepting applications to fill Full-Time and Temporary Maintenance Worker positions.
FULL-TIME
Duties include manual labor, park maintenance duties, equipment operations, snow removal & minor construction projects. Specialized duties may include playground equipment maintenance, fertilizing, chemical applications, grass seeding, landscaping & plumbing duties.
Working days include Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. except during the summer when hours are changed to 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. This position may be required to have a flexible work schedule & work weekends as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license required. The ideal candidate would have the working knowledge of general construction techniques, ability to operate a wide variety of equipment, working knowledge of concrete, grounds maintenance &/or plumbing techniques. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, machinery, excessive noise & all types of weather conditions is expected. Strong communications & mechanical skills required. This position requires a CDL Class B within 6 months of employment.
COMPENSATION
Starting Pay $12.35 per hour. Starting wage based on experience. An employee has opportunities for advancement, including promotions to Maintenance Worker II & Park Technician. TEMPORARY POSITIONS
These positions would have flexible hours and employment would last up to three months.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older & have a valid driver’s license. These positions require manual labor and working in adverse types of weather. This employee should possess good communication skills.
COMPENSATION
Starting wage: $9.00/hour.
