Pay Grade Min: $10.39
Pay Grade Mid: $13.72
Position Summary: The Physician Documentation Assistant (Scribe) provides clerical support to the staff physician, with specific goals of improving throughput for all patients. The primary role of the PDA will be to work along-side the physician and transcribe all appropriate physician documentation and order entry based on the physician’s instructions, in addition to other clerical duties. This assistance is under the direct oversight and control of the staff physician and the Nurse or Office Manager.
Essential Functions:
Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent required; clerical experience and medical terminology preferred; basic computer knowledge required. Prefer allied health experience with credentials such as: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification ; Certified Medical Transcription (CMT) certification; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Skills & Experience: Candidates should possess: strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, prioritization skills, the ability to work well under stress and the ability to think critically and problem solve.
Minimum of 1) 6 months previous patient care experience or 2) student in Nursing, Allied Health or Medicine or 3) completion of medical terminology class highly recommended.Position requires that incumbent is proficient using a computer, specifically Microsoft Office programs and data entry systems. Additionally, incumbent must be capable of multitasking and prioritizing workload. Experience with the order entry functionality in healthcare information systems is desired.
