Pay Grade Min: $12.46/hour

Position Summary:   The materials management buyer/clerk independently performs routine product research and purchasing; reviews and adjusts inventory; manages and maintains inventory software; performs routine replenishment of inventories; processing and filling of supply requisitions; processing and stocking freight and supplies; shipping and handling of outbound mail and freight; traveling between outreach locations for site coverage

Essential Functions:

  • Runs daily restock reports and replenishes stock; corrects inventory discrepancies between inventory count & computer; maintains order and appearance of shelf inventory; assesses usage patterns of stock; prevents overstock; and tracks consigned supply usage
  • Runs, receives and reviews daily purchase requisition reports; compiles purchase orders; and places purchase order by phone, fax or electronic data interchange
  • Creates and maintains product, vendor or contract information; reviews and reconciles variance reports regarding cost, quantity and product; and generates statistical reports
  • Researches new and existing products to identify availability, functionality and value; makes recommendation on research; and communicates information to internal/external individuals or entities
  • Coordinates and performs installation and maintenance of hardware; adds, removes, and updates inventory information; generates reports and conducts “usage” and “transactional” research; and provides functional support and service
  • Provides daily support to direct report/department; receives mail, prioritizes and distributes to ensure recipients are aware; answers phones, screens and directs callers to appropriate individual; ensures all office supplies and products are available for immediate use; and develops and maintains an effective filing system
  • Verifies and documents incoming freight quantity; inspects freight for damage; reports shortages, inaccuracies or damage to buyers; reviews packing slip, purchase order and freight for accuracy; logs quantity into inventory software system; marks inventory with stock number; delivers, receives signature and logs specials order purchases; restock storeroom shelves; and files paperwork (purchase orders, packing slips and requisitions)
  • Performs daily buyer and clerk duties for outreach sites when needed; and communicates and provides feedback to management at all locations.

Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalence required; experience in purchasing and buying inventory and supply functions preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: a valid Kansas drivers license with an acceptable driving record and must be insurable through the medical center’s insurance carrier; a valid Kansas drivers license with an acceptable driving record and must be insurable through the medical center’s insurance carrier; additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. Specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained will be provided by the department director/manager/supervisor at time of hire/transfer into department.
