Early Childhood Connections Substitute Bus Monitor 

Job Description General Function:
Responsible for ensuring the general health and safety of the children riding the connections vehicle. Works cooperatively with the bus driver. Typical Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Promotes child safety at all times. 
Requires and assists in use of seat belts. 
Controls noise level of children. 2. Provides guidance to children in a positive way.
Follows procedures related to any discipline or safety related concerns.
Interacts with children to help entertain. 3. Accepts other duties as assigned by Early Childhood Connections staff. 
Scope of Position: 
Reports to the Family Involvement/ Transportation coordinator. Position includes solving problems with children, families and staff. Works cooperatively with the bus driver. Receives moderate supervision. Daily contacts include children, families, Early Childhood Connections staff, and transportation staff. 
Must pass prior to employment: 
Tuberculosis skin test (TB) 
Kansas Bureau of Investigation background check 
Physical exam Willing to certify in: 
CPR 
First Aid Requires: 
Confidentiality 
Punctuality and dependability 
Flexibility 
Reliable means of Transportation
Temperament appropriate for the supervision of group transportation of young children. 
Willingness to follow directions Working Conditions: Spends approximately 95% working with children on the bus. 
Physical Requirements include: 
frequent lifting of 10- 25 lbs, occasional lifting and moving of 50 lbs, bending, squatting, and kneeling occur frequently on a daily basis and fine manipulation occurs frequently. Evaluation will be responsibility of the Early Childhood Connections PFCE Coordinator. 
Term of Employment: 
1. Classified position based on beginning paraprofessional salary determined by USD #489. 
2. Part-time position 
3. 9 month position. 
4. At will position.
