Live Video Conference with Author Marcus Paul to Talk about Early Settlers in WaKeeney
Sunday February 23rd - 2pm
Community Arts Room at the WaKeeney Public Library
Free Admission
WaKeeney Public Library and the Trego County Historical Society are excited to co-sponsor a live video-conference via the internet with author Marcus Paul to talk about his new book: “Ireland to the Wild West.” His Irish ancestors were immigrants who arrived in WaKeeney just when the town was being settled in 1878. We’ll be able to talk with him directly about how he did his genealogy research and some of the exciting discoveries he made along the way. Join us for this long-distance “meet and greet”.
If you would like to purchase the book prior to the event, please stop by the Trego County Historical Society Museum, 128 N 13th St, or call (785) 743-2964
Book review: "Ireland to the Wild West" uncovers previously unknown first hand personal stories of life in the first years of the settlement of Wakeeney, frontier town in Trego, NW Kansas, in the days of the 'cowboys'. Tough resolve and missionary endeavour go hand in hand in this moving account which brings the 1870s Old West brilliantly to life.
